Separate Waste Collection 2024

More than 700 kg of waste collected for recycling at VK Fest in Moscow and Ufa

VK Fest, a popular open-air entertainment and music festival, was held in 5 Russian cities this summer. VKontakte launched an environmental initiative to collect and recycle waste generated at the event. EcoTechnologies was responsible for implementing the initiative at the festival sites in Moscow and Ufa, and summarized the results of the environmental campaign.
In Ufa’s Vatan Park, where VK Fest took place, 10 separate waste collection points were set up. 40 containers were brought to the festival site, into which aluminum cans and plastic beverage bottles could be dropped. Volunteers helped the participants to sort the waste correctly on the spot.

VK Fest in Moscow took place at Luzhniki. There were 32 points where visitors could drop off aluminum cans, plastic glasses and bottles. Recyclables were also collected during the festival’s setup and dismantling: 17 cubes of cardboard and stretch film were sent for recycling and 25 cubes were sent to animal shelters with the support of VK Dobro.

As a result, more than 80 kg of recyclable materials were collected in Ufa and more than 640 kg in Moscow.

The collected recyclables will be delivered to local licensed recycling facilities to give them a second life. Aluminum will be used to make building materials, plastic — synthetic fibers and insulation.

EcoTechnologies is a full-cycle sustainability project implementation agency. The company is part of the EcoPartners group of companies along with TotalCycle, a plastic packaging waste recycling plant, and RzhevMash, a manufacturer of waste sorting equipment.
