Elizaveta Reshetnyak spoke at the round table "Protected areas and plastics. Collection, use, recycling"

On April 18, the round table of the "Zapovednoe embassy" fund devoted to the competent handling of plastics in specially protected natural areas took place. Employees of protected areas, the Ministry of Natural Resources and experts from companies engaged in the development of the closed cycle economy took part in the program. Elizaveta Reshetnyak, Project Manager at EcoTechnologies, addressed the issue of waste management in protected areas.
The expert presented two main approaches to sustainable development in protected areas:

  • Organization of permanent separate waste collection (RSO)

This is a complex project that includes: selection of recyclers; production, manufacture, and installation of containers; eco-education of area employees and visitors. One of the options for RSO can be a fandomat, which also serves as a means of engagement (through an incentive system for recycling) and eco-education (on-screen).

  • Infrastructure from recycled materials

The production of objects from recycled materials engages waste in a closed cycle. elizaveta Reshetnyak shared how in 2023 EcoTechnologies for Viola launched the first in the Leningrad region route of 2 tons of recycled cheese packaging. More details in the case study.

The recording of the roundtable is available at the link.

The event was held as part of the interregional project "Plastic for the Good of Nature" supported by SIBUR's Formula of Good Deeds program.
