Ravil Fehretdinov spoke at the Sustainable Development Conference: Packaging Sector

On June 4 the sixth conference "Sustainable Development: Packaging Sector" took place at the Russian Biotechnology University. Among the participants were representatives of the Department of Chemical Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Ravil Fehretdinov, R&D Director of EcoTechnologies, also gave a presentation.

The topic of the review was the main trends in waste recycling. Now many countries are fighting plastic and supporting recycling. More used packaging can be recycled and recycling services are becoming more affordable, creating a closed-loop economy.

Ravil talked about the impact of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) on recyclers. Producers now have three options: change packaging, prepare to pay more for it because of the eco-tax, or develop collection and recycling technologies.
